A Word Is Worth A Thousand Pictures http://ping.fm/p4Cor

A Word Is Worth A Thousand Pictures

Perhaps you’ve heard the ole phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words?”

I hereby declare this statement to be backwards.

Yes, backwards.

A word is worth a thousand pictures, but a picture is not worth a thousand words any more than it is worth a thousand pics or worth a thousand clips and I’m here to tell you why.  I bet you knew that already though.
See, most people are so buried with life that they don’t have time to breath or even smell the proverbial rose with sweet morning dew upon its petals.  With this in mind they go about their daily routines, whatever it may be.

All appears to be good.

All appears to be normal.

Then suddenly, without looking our unsuspecting victim (errr workbee) is stirred out of their daydream by a close encounter of the word kind.

Then suddenly, without looking our unsuspecting victim (errr workbee) is stirred out of their daydream by a close encounter of the word kind.

No the word is not “buy my widget now” any more than it is “click here.”

Opps…

Sorry.

Soapbox.  Heh.

Shall we move on?

So what is this word that is worth a thousand pictures?  You really want to know?  I can’t drag this out and torment your pupils with anticipation of the ultimate super-deluxe revelation?

Really?

I just did, actually.

How To Write An Article For The Web

You’re not listening.

No really.

That is I mean you if you are the one writing long paragraphs for people to read.

Not to worry, you can write an article to me about how to write an article for the real world. But this is Web. You’ve entered into my realm. There are secrets every Web writer needs to follow.

Web articles need
• To be easy to scan
• To use bullets and numbering
• To have short paragraphs that move people

Using bold at different sections of the article sure does help to break it up and that is good. No matter how good the content is, if I cannot quickly scan it and see that it has valuable information for me you lose me, the reader.

Why Hire An ATG Dynamo Developer

Recently, I’ve been thinking about developers and the various acronyms that go with them.  For example, you can have an ATG Dynamo developer or a PHP programmer.

So I started thinking.

Wouldn’t people like to know what these various disciplines do?

To that end I am going to provide a series of articles focused on developers and programmers that I hope will be as informative for you as they were for me.

First, let’s define ATG Dynamo:
According to the PC Mag (PCMag.com) ATG Dynamo is a family of e-commerce and CRM applications from Art Technology Group, Inc., Cambridge, MA.  Part of ATG's core marketing Adaptive Scenario Engine, Dynamo comprises a comprehensive set of Java-based products that enable an organization to deploy a fully-integrated customer management system (CRM) and Web site.

CRM applications are customer relationship management systems that integrate clients with a business so that enhanced communication abilities result.

Typical ATG tools include:
• Commerce
• Scenario
• Personalization
• Searchandizing
• Merchandizing
• Content Management

Deployments within corporate settings for large scale company processes.

When I searched IT related job boards I found numerous opportunities for ATG developers.  Common requirements for securing an ATG Dynamo position include but are not limited to.

1. Experience with ATG e-commerce framework and suite
2. Experience architecting e-commerce for large scale environments
3. Transition / Migration experience
4. Development of ATG modules within complex, time sensitive projects

The path to becoming an ATG developer often begins with Java or at the very least Java Script.  As a person becomes an expert in Java many paths start to open as options for career development.

ATG Dynamo jobs are one pathway.

When asked, Resource Point LLC provided these points as examples of what businesses commonly look for when seeking ATG Dynamo programmers.

• 5 years of J2EE and Java programming experience
• 2 - 4 years of experience in implementing ATG 2007 based applications using Commerce, Personalization and Scenario servers.
• Strong understanding of Java programming best practices
• Strong understanding of JSP, AJAX, XML, XSLT and basic UI - Technologies
• Strong understanding of distributed computing concepts
• Strong object oriented design and design patterns experience

Resource Point LLC helps businesses secure the best ATG Dynamo programmers available to meet a company’s needs.  As an IT recruiting service they are able to meet the needs of those looking for a temporary short-term consultant as well as longer term full time employees within ATG Dynamo jobs.
